For hard mounting applications, the MCC specification provides standardized bottom and side mount dimensions, and their association to the header receptacle in the HDD.

This standard also outlines mounting characteristics for 2.5" HDD to the OEM system motherboard. For bottom hard-mounting of 2.5" HDD with 12.5 mm (0.5") height, the MCC specifies the nominal "Z" height as 3.99mm (.157").

Material Feeding Systems

Any of several systems used to feed material into the manufacturing stamping process. Premium line uses two main feeding systems:

  1. Traverse coils. The material is fed from large drums. This reduces downtime for material changeover.
  2. Pancake Coils. The material in a pancake reel form and is usually fed using a horizontal coiler/de-reeler.

Mating/Unmating Cycle

The engagement and separation of a male and female terminal. The maximum recommended number of mating/unmating cycles is a measure of the durability of the terminals.

Mating/Unmating Force

The amount of force, measured in grams or pounds, required to join or separate a mated plug and receptacle. Mating/unmating force increases with number of circuits in the assembly.
